Still on Windows 10
Despite Windows 10 going EOL back in October, I'm still using it! Now why could that be..?
I'm the kind of person that feels like if something ain't broke, then there's no point in fixing it. Although I suppose that analogy isn't super applicable to Windows of all things, but still.
All the software I need still works with Windows 10, it's what I've grown accustomed to using, and it's frankly a lot less yucky than Windows 11. Honestly, if all the software I regularly used still worked on Windows 7 (and my current computer supported it), I'd still be using that.
Microsoft is one of those companies that just frustrate me to no end nowadays, so I've tried to mitigate my reliance on their software and services as much as I can. I've got it down to just Windows and a Microsoft account for the sole reason of playing Minecraft, because they did that whole thing a few years ago.
Of course, there's always the option of trying Linux based operating systems, which I have been doing! And I have been enjoying! But certain software just runs more reliably one Windows than with WINE, and in some instances don't work with WINE at all or require immense amounts of configuration to get working, and to me I would just prefer the option of de-enshitifying Windows to the best of my ability.
So frankly, I'll probably only ever use Windows 11 if I need to, like in a future where I need to get a new computer and Windows 10 isn't supported on it. But for now I'm fine where I am, although I would love it if I could downgrade to Windows 7, but I'll take what I can get. ^^;
